What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state that we all experience on a day to day basis. We naturally move into a trance state right before sleep, and for a short time after waking up.
If you have ever “zoned out” in a meeting, or intently watched television, or even driven home from your place of work without really thinking about the details of the route…these are all examples of how we regularly enter a hypnotic state.
Why do we use it?
Therapeutically, hypnosis is used as a tool to access your subconscious mind. When changes are made on a subconscious level, it takes will power out of the equation, and suddenly it is easy to think, feel, or act in a whole new way. This is the key to lasting change.
Who’s in charge?
Hypnosis is all about choice. You choose to go into hypnosis, and you choose when to emerge. You are always 100% in control.
How does it feel?
Different people experience hypnosis in different ways. In general, most people feel physically relaxed, and mentally very aware. Imagine what it feels like when you lay down in your bed at night, when your body is relaxed but your mind is continues to passively scan over the remaining thoughts and feelings from your day. This is what many people experience during hypnosis.
Will it work for you?
If you want it to. If you want to be hypnotized, and if you want the desired changes, then it will work for you.
